Barefoot Sound Brings CIANI/ORKEST to Life in Dolby Atmos

CIANI / ORKEST
Suzanne Ciani and conductor Simon Dobson

Suzanne Ciani and the Metropole Orkest’s groundbreaking live album receives an immersive Dolby Atmos mastering experience using a Barefoot Sound monitoring system.

Barefoot Sound is proud to have played a role in bringing CIANI/ORKEST, the extraordinary new live album from electronic music pioneer and five-time Grammy nominee Suzanne Ciani and the internationally acclaimed Metropole Orkest, conducted by Simon Dobson, to life in Dolby Atmos.

The project culminated in a special screening and listening event on October 6, 2026, at the Dolby Screening Room at Hollywood & Vine in Los Angeles, celebrating an ambitious musical collaboration and the power of immersive audio.

A Landmark Collaboration in Electronic and Orchestral Music

CIANI/ORKEST brings together two distinct musical worlds: Ciani’s pioneering Buchla electronic instrument and the sweeping power of a 50-piece orchestra.

Recorded live at Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), the album features an entirely new body of work composed specifically for this unprecedented collaboration. Rather than revisiting Ciani’s celebrated catalog, CIANI/ORKEST explores new musical territory, blending electronic textures, orchestral dynamics, and expansive soundscapes into an experience that is both intimate and monumental.

The album’s rich sonic complexity makes it a natural fit for Dolby Atmos, where the additional dimension of spatial audio allows listeners to experience the interplay between electronic and orchestral elements in remarkable detail.

MASTERED FOR DOLBY ATMOS AT THE BAREFOOT SOUND EXPERIENCE

Barefoot Sound 7.1.4 Demo Studio

The Dolby Atmos version of CIANI/ORKEST was mastered by KamranV, a producer, engineer, and arts technologist associated with the MIT Spatial Sound Lab. The mastering took place at The Barefoot Sound Experience, Barefoot Sound’s immersive demo studio located at The Lot at Formosa in West Hollywood.

Featuring a meticulously configured 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos monitoring system, the studio provided KamranV with a precise and revealing environment to shape the album’s immersive presentation.

Barefoot Sound’s precision monitoring allowed the subtle textures of Ciani’s Buchla synthesizer and the full power of the Metropole Orkest to be experienced with exceptional clarity and dimensionality.

The precision and accuracy of The Barefoot Sound Experience allowed me to create a highly detailed Dolby Atmos master with exceptional clarity and confidence. Having a perfectly dialed-in monitoring environment made all the difference.” – KamranV, Producer, Engineer & Arts Technologist

From the delicate nuances of Ciani’s Buchla synthesizer to the full dynamic impact of the Metropole Orkest, Barefoot Sound’s monitoring system delivered the depth and spatial accuracy essential to the mastering process.

Hearing the concert album take shape in Dolby Atmos was an extraordinary experience, showcasing how immersive audio can expand the emotional and sonic possibilities of a live performance. CIANI/ORKEST is released by Atmospheric / AKP Recordings / CyKiK
