One of Barefoot Sound’s focuses is meeting the needs of small to mid-sized project studios. By designing monitors that can replace several sets of speakers, Barefoot provides engineers with more space without compromising monitoring quality. The MicroMain45 3-way active monitor with MEME™ Technology continues the legacy of excellence established by its predecessors.
Featuring the same signal path, amplifier, and driver technologies as Barefoot Sound’s flagship MiniMain12, the MicroMain45 is streamlined to deliver Barefoot’s renowned resolution and translation at a more affordable price. This expertly designed 3-way speaker includes a 1-inch radiator tweeter, two 2.5-inch aluminum-cone midrange drivers, and an 8-inch aluminum-cone subwoofer, offering an impressive 40Hz–45kHz frequency response. This 610-watt studio monitor utilizes amplifier stages for maximum sonic transparency, while Barefoot Sound’s state-of-the-art MEME™ technology provides four voice models, allowing you to reference different types of speakers directly from the MicroMain45. Ideal for small and mid-sized project studios, the Barefoot Sound MicroMain45 delivers the high-level performance of the MicroMain27 and MicroMain26 in a value-packed nearfield monitor.
Like all Barefoot Sound monitors, the MicroMain45 incorporates versatile MEME™ Technology (Multi-Emphasis Monitor Emulation). Although high-resolution monitors have their advantages, many engineers still use NS10Ms and Mix Cubes for secondary references due to their familiarity and usefulness for focusing on specific aspects of a mix. However, adding extra speakers can degrade the primary reference monitors’ sound field, and these older models require additional amplifiers, cables, and studio space. The solution is the MicroMain45’s ability to emulate those classic speakers. With a simple turn of a knob, users can switch from the MicroMain45’s highly revealing “Flat” response to the warmer “Hi-Fi” setting, which emulates high-end consumer audio gear. The “Old School” setting closely mimics the NS10M nearfield sound, while the “Cube” setting replicates the mid-centric sound of classic mix cubes. Rather than replicating every subtle quirk of these vintage speakers, the MicroMain45 captures their essence, modeling their frequency, phase, transient responses, dynamic compression, and specific distortion components.
