The Footprint® 03C Excels as a Stereo Pair for Pro-Level Monitoring

Austin-based audio engineer Victor Gaspar has been building his reputation in the studio world for over a decade, starting with mobile sessions and steadily leveling up to working with top-tier talent in professional studios. These days, he holds a residency at Orb Recording Studios in Studio B, a space that has become his creative home base—but his work frequently takes him beyond those walls.
“As a freelance engineer, I need gear that moves with me and performs in any environment,” Victor explains. “That’s why the Barefoot Footprint® 03C monitors became such a game-changer for me.”
From Micromain27 to Footprint® 03C
Victor’s first exposure to Barefoot monitors came through the MicroMain27s, which he uses in the control room at Orb. When it came time to add a second pair of monitors—something more portable but still top-tier—he didn’t have to look far.
“I already loved the Barefoot sound—especially the transient response, imaging, and high-end clarity. I needed something compact that could travel, hit hard, and most importantly, translate. The Footprint® 03C checked every box.”
Although originally designed as a center channel for immersive setups, Victor saw potential in the Footprint® 03C as a stereo pair. “It was marketed as a center speaker, but I took the risk, bought two, and have zero regrets.”

Surprising Power in a Compact Format
With dual 6.5″ woofers in a sealed cabinet design, the Footprint® 03C Tri-amplified 3-way delivers surprising low-end extension and clarity for its size—making it an ideal choice for rooms like his 15′ x 17′ studio or mobile setups on the go.
“The sealed cabinet is huge for me—it keeps the sound tight and focused,” he says. “You really feel like you’re just hearing the speaker and nothing else.”

A Word on MEME Technology
One feature that continues to impress Victor is Barefoot’s proprietary MEME™ technology, which allows users to switch between different speaker voicings to check mixes across various playback systems.
“I use MEME all the time—it’s like getting multiple monitors in one box,” he says. “And now with the Footprint03C, the switching is seamless. No mute, no lag. Just clean transitions that keep the workflow moving.”

The Rig
Victor’s setup is centered around Pro Tools, where he mixes in the box but tracks through outboard gear. It’s a hybrid setup that relies heavily on monitors that give an honest representation of the source.
Whether he’s dialing in a mix in Studio B or traveling to engineer sessions elsewhere, the Footprint® 03C has earned its place in Victor’s toolkit.
“They’re compact, powerful, detailed, and translate really well. They’ve become my daily drivers. I wouldn’t trade them for anything.”
