20 Years Of Relentless Evolution

In 2026, Barefoot Sound turns 20 years old. Not bad for a company that started in a garage in San Francisco with a simple idea: studio monitoring without compromise.
From the beginning, Barefoot wasn’t interested in making just another studio monitor. The goal was to rethink the whole idea – why separate nearfields, mains, and mastering speakers when one system should be able to tell you the whole story? That idea turned into the first Barefoot monitors, and the philosophy has guided every product since.

Over the past two decades, Barefoot Sound has introduced technologies like Dual-Force™ opposing-woofer architecture, MEME™ Multi-Emphasis Monitor Emulation, and SPOC™ Spectrally Optimized Conversion. Along the way came systems like the MiniMain12, MicroMain series, MasterStack12, and the Footprint monitors, which have found their way into studios all over the world.
Today, Barefoot Sound is headquartered in Portland, Oregon, where every monitor is assembled, tested, and shipped to studios, engineers, producers, and artists who rely on them to make critical decisions every day.
Twenty years later, the goal is still the same: build speakers that tell the truth, translate everywhere, and help people make better records.
